Serviced accommodation vs hotels for work stays: an honest comparison
By DNT Stays team · 17 October 2026 · 2 min read

Hotels have their place. If you are in town for one night for a meeting, a hotel near the station is hard to beat. But once a work trip stretches past three or four nights, the maths and the comfort start to shift.
Space to actually live
A hotel room is a bedroom with a desk. A serviced apartment gives you a separate living area, a kitchen and often a second bedroom. On a long trip, being able to close the bedroom door on your work is worth a lot.
A kitchen changes everything
Breakfast, lunch and dinner out every day is expensive and tiring. With a fully equipped kitchen you can cook what you like, keep the fridge stocked and eat at the times that suit your shifts.
Laundry without the hotel bill
Most of our homes have a washing machine. On a two-week assignment that means packing half as much and never paying hotel laundry prices.
Better value the longer you stay
Hotels price per room per night. A two-bedroom apartment that sleeps four colleagues often costs less per person than four hotel rooms, and longer stays usually unlock better rates.
What you give up
To be fair to hotels: you will not have a 24-hour reception, a restaurant downstairs or daily housekeeping as standard. We handle this with fast message responses, self check-in at any hour and cleans on request for longer stays.
Invoicing and booking for companies
If you book on behalf of a business, we can invoice the company directly and hold dates for named guests. Use the corporate enquiry form and tell us who is travelling, when and where.
The short answer
One or two nights near a station: book a hotel. Three nights or more, more than one person, or anyone who wants to cook and relax properly: serviced accommodation usually wins.
